COSMOPOLITAN

2 oz. lemon flavored vodka

1 oz. triple sec

Splash of lime juice

Splash of cranberry juice.

Chill a martini glass in the freezer.  Fill a cocktail shaker with ice until three-quarters full.  Pour in the vodka and triple sec and shake vigorously.  Strain into martini glass and add the lime and cranberry juice.  Garnish with a twist of lemon.

CRANBERRY ORANGE CIDER

1 cup fresh cranberries

6 cups apple cider

2 cups cranberry juice

½ cup brown sugar

6 cloves

½ teaspoon allspice

3 cinnamon sticks

4 orange slices

3 lemon slices

3 lime slices

Coarsely chop the cranberries in a food processor.  Bring the cranberries and remaining ingredients to a boil in a large saucepan.  Simmer for ten minutes.  Turn off the heat, cover, and allow the cider to steep for another ten minutes

SANGRIA

1 orange

1 lime

2 plums

1 bottle of a light and fruity red such as Beaujolais or Bardolino.

¼ cup sugar

6 oz seltzer

Ice as needed

Slice the fruit and then mash it on the bottom of a pitcher.  Add the wine and sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves.  Add the seltzer and ice cubes.  Use white wine if you prefer but again, something light and fruity.

SIDECAR

1 ½ oz of brandy or cognac

¾ oz. triple sec

¾ oz. lemon juice

Add ice and the above ingredients to a cocktail shaker.  Shake vigorously and strain into a pre-chilled martini glass.  Garnish with a twist of lemon.

WATERMELON COOLER

1 ½ -2 lbs. (not counting the rind) seedless watermelon cut into large chunks.

1 pint spring water

½ cup sugar

Simply whiz all the ingredients in a blender and then pour it through a sieve.  This is an awesomely tasty and refreshing summer drink.
